Delight of the Week (I)
After the going-back-to-Ma'arif ordeal, I just had to pick up the phone and ring one of my favourite secondary school teacher, Madam Rapiah. It has been a while since we last catch things up, and it was nice taking to her, although it was only for a short 15 minutes or so as she was giving tution to some students. I'll call her again, one of these days..
Delight of the week (II)
Just came back from a morning out with Waneh - fun lah. I'm glad she asked me out; I enjoyed the company. We went around Bugis a bit, then chucked lots of "business" cards of the design students from Temasek Poly into our bags - they are holding an exhibition of sort of their designs at the National Library's Plaza until this Sunday, so check it out!!
Weather of the week
It has been raining cats and frogs this last few days - beautiful, isn't it?
Phrase of the week
It's more of a proverb, but I think it's deep: "Hitch my wagon to the stars." For ages the stars in the sky have been used by travellers and sea captains for finding the right direction and navigating. This proverb stands true even in a different sense because it also means to identify a goal in life and then work towards achieving it.
Photo of the week
I know it's totally un-humble of me, but.. heh. Shot it last week though. ^_^ http://www.flickr.com/photos/fiachrette/119618422/

but reading, good company and reflection
must finish him.
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
