Yesterday, on my way home from school, I was reading a book in the bus. Then came a bout of coughs. I hate those coughs of mine. Sometimes, people had to knock my back to stop the coughing.
So anyway, I was trying so hard not to cough 'cause there were so many people around. So I tried to swallow the coughs in. As a result, my eyes watered and soon began to run down my cheeks (eh like, so drama mama). It looked as though I was crying.
Then there was this Chinese guy (I said guy because he couldn't be older than, what, 25) in his office attire, tie and all, offering me a tissue.
He offered me a tissue!!
He might be the most nicest guy I've ever met. I mean, how many of you will offer a girl you didn't know, a tissue when you think she's crying in front of everyone in the bus?
What more, me coming from a Madrasah, I didn't have much socialisation with guys from other races, and the past three/four semesters with them has showed that me sometimes you might feel you're invisible around them. I bet if some of them were in that bus with me, they'd just close one eye.
This wasn't the first time I had a Chinese guy (read: I'm not trying to race out the Chinese; they happen to be the majority of the people non-Malay) be real nice to me. Once, I was with a friend, and this soldier gave his seat up so the two of us could sit.
The girls who would end up with these two guys: they sure are lucky.

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
