Delight of the Week (I)
After the going-back-to-Ma'arif ordeal, I just had to pick up the phone and ring one of my favourite secondary school teacher, Madam Rapiah. It has been a while since we last catch things up, and it was nice taking to her, although it was only for a short 15 minutes or so as she was giving tution to some students. I'll call her again, one of these days..
Delight of the week (II)
Just came back from a morning out with Waneh - fun lah. I'm glad she asked me out; I enjoyed the company. We went around Bugis a bit, then chucked lots of "business" cards of the design students from Temasek Poly into our bags - they are holding an exhibition of sort of their designs at the National Library's Plaza until this Sunday, so check it out!!
Weather of the week
It has been raining cats and frogs this last few days - beautiful, isn't it?
Phrase of the week
It's more of a proverb, but I think it's deep: "Hitch my wagon to the stars." For ages the stars in the sky have been used by travellers and sea captains for finding the right direction and navigating. This proverb stands true even in a different sense because it also means to identify a goal in life and then work towards achieving it.
Photo of the week
I know it's totally un-humble of me, but.. heh. Shot it last week though. ^_^ http://www.flickr.com/photos/fiachrette/119618422/

This morning at McD's, Nina and I took close to ten minutes deciding what to eat. I was that excited. In the end, I decided on hotcakes, a sausage mcmuffin and an iced milo. ^_^
Although Nina, my very own Resident Cartoon (who had once been described as a Tornado as her form teacher), could not sit still for half a minute and talk loud enough for a cabin in the MRT to hear, I love her company. She's silly funny.
We took a shuttle bus to CGH. When she went on board, she turned to me and said in awe, "No need to tap EZ link? Free?! Wahhh." The koi fishes in front of the clinic loved her; she screamed when she touched a slimy one. She moaned and groaned when waiting for her turn at the clinic; I'm guessing the 80% of the other waiting patients either understood her impatience, or were shaking their head at her behaviour. We arrived at 930, and were done almost 2 hours later.
After getting new prescriptions for her glasses, we headed off to West Plaza and Pasir Ris. On the way in the car, I spotted a little one with her mother at a bustop. Because I love kids, I turn to watch the girl, who turned out to be Iqah's baby sister Nuha, who's mother was Nina's Ustazah (ngaji). She blew us a kiss. *awwwwww*
When Nina was choosing new glasses, I sneaked off to the florist and bought myself an orchid and a red carnation. ^_^ Poor florist; she had a sore throat, and had to whisper and make signs with her hands. If I were to write a book one day (this is the part where you roll over the floor laughing) I'd put her as a character, because I love florists and she's very friendly.
Our last stop was to Maarif. Sigh.
Everytime I drop by, there are always changes. Ma'arif used to one Lanes 14 and 16, but since they've sold both lands, they now only used Lane 14 for the rest of the year. I will miss that rumah kampung at Lane 16. And the playground where I used to imagine the ghosts like to play? Now covered with cement. No more playground. It almost breaks the heart.
After sending off Nina and while waiting for Dee and Loi to finish school, I bumped into Nadiah Karim, whom I've not met for years. I was actually choking; that was how close to tears I was. We used to be bestfriends-turn-rivals in Primary 4 *chuckles*. She's in PreU now.
It was also a pleasant surprise to find that Radhiah's and Fatanah's mom knows my name. ^_^
I met a lot of the little ones (should I name them?), here goes: Raihana (who called me Kak Hannah OB!, whatever that meant), Nurul Huda Sulaiman (I remember her fathers name! haha. She always greets me with a surprised "Kak Hannah!"), and lots of Dee's friends (who I dare not name because I might miss one of them and offend them (I get the feeling that Doya is always shy when she sees me)).
I met some Ustazahs: Ustazah Zainab ("Awak tak panas ke? Masuk lah dalam. Cepat eh da third year."), Ustazah Samnah ("Awak stress eh? Asal kurus sangat? Tak makan eh?" "Saya makan macam kuda, la Zah!" "Ye.. nanti da jadi businesswoman jangan lupa kita dekat sini."), Cikgu Dibah ("Eh awak ni macam papan eh!"), Teacher Mahmudah (who I know recognises me, but couldn't put a name to my face. I don't mind. It was nice to see her smile.), Ustazah Zaliah and Ustazah Asmah and the makciks of the canteen, Cik Milah, Cik Jual Air, and Cik Canteen (Maaf, saya tak tahu nama2 dorang, tapi saya suka melihat mereka senyum tanya khabar).
All that is gold does not necesarily glitter, and that is what Ma'arif is to me. Gold. No matter how much I used to want to run away from Ma'arif, I'll always be back.
End this with a conversation I had with Nina in the car, as we arrived at Ma'arif:
Me: Eh! That's Teacher Aslinah's van!
Nina: Teacher Aslinah?
Me: Yes. She was my form teacher.
Nina: She's Maimunah's makcik!
Me: EH! She was my form teacher for three years.
Nina: Well, she's still Maimunah's makcik.
*chuckles*

There were a few considerable mistakes.
- We went to the market on Sunday, not Saturday (yeah the whole family. Yeah we do a lot of stuff together. Thank you, God.)
- It was almost perfect. I should have bought those flowers I saw. Argh.
- "We" didnt buy two turtles. KAK HANNAH bought two turtles, thank you very much.

This morning, Mona shampooed her hair, so I was about to dry it.
Mona: Adik nak drykan sendiri!!
Han: No. When you're as old as your Kak Nina, then you dry your own hair. Until then, you're my baby sister and I'm going to dry your hair for you.
Nina: *seriously* Yes Adik. Enjoy your childhood while you can.
So said the wise 10-year-old.

Confession of the Week
I must confess – I burp a lot. The disgusting thing is, it is usually after I burp that I reliase I’m not suppose to burp when there’s people around. And when there aren’t people around – I must confess – I burp and I burp and I burp.
Dream of the week
I dreamt that Ma’arif is now a boarding school and I was one of the facilitators. Two student-prefects (I can clearly recall one of them; she’s my junior in
I snatched the gun from the girl’s hand. The girl then ran away and I shot the two men. Multiple times. In the head. Ie., shoot Guy1, shoot Guy2, shoot shoot Guy1, shoot shoot Guy2. I actually remember thinking, “Shoot again, in case they’re not dead yet.” And the creepiest thing?
I know who the two Guys are, but only after I shot them. I murdered them in my dreams.
Delight of the week
Going out with the Two Jays, and having the juices to write another poem, which was dedicated to Dee, who indirectly gave me the idea.
Discovery of the week
I have this discovered that – truly – to motivate someone, you yourself must be motivated. Ah you might say, “We all know that Han,” but not do I only believe that, I have also proven that theory. With the help of My Mona, of course.
Mona: Kakak, adik nak tengok Kids Central.
Han: Cannot.
Mona: Alaaaaaa abeh adik boring.
Han: *frowns* Pergi lah main computer.
Mona: *pouts and out on a sad face* Alaaaa tak best!
Han: *forces a smile and an excited voice* Best! Main computer ah go!
Mona: *brightens up and grins* Yay! Main computer!
Voila.
Song of the week

hi mr milkman!
hey. how ya doin'?
good. you're sexy.
thanks. that's what you get from delivering milk.
you're totally hot.
babe, tell me something i don't know.
you stink.
huh huh huh (confident laugh). good one. huh huh huh
would you like to dance the macarena with me?
no. i only do the cha cha.
Okay, so we were dead bored.
I'm feeling like I want a little laugh right now after the above lame conversation. Would you like a little laugh. Yes! You want a little laugh. We all wanna little laugh. Yay!
Okay, if you'd like to drop by my sister Dee's blog for a moment, you'll enjoy a free read - that's right, it's FREE! No conditions and rules to apply - of the Ten Ways to Annoy People When Boarding the MRT (or something like that).
Otherwise:
10 Ways to Annoy a Telemarketer
10. When they ask "How are you today?" Tell them! "I'm so glad you asked
because no one these days seems to care, and I have all these problems; my
arthritis is acting up, my eyelashes are sore, my dog just died..."
9. If they say they're John Doe from XYZ Company, ask them to spell their name.
Then ask them to spell the company name. Then ask them where it is located.
Continue asking them personal questions or questions about their company for as
long as necessary.
8. Cry out in surprise, "Judy! Is that you? Oh my God! Judy,
how have you been?" Hopefully, this will give Judy a few brief moments of
pause as she tries to figure out where she could know you from.
7. If MCI calls trying to get you to sign up for the Family and Friends Plan,
reply, in as SINISTER a voice as you can, "I don't have any friends ... would
you be my friend?"
6. If they want to loan you money, tell them you just filed for bankruptcy and
you could sure use some money.
5. Tell the telemarketer you are on "home incarceration" and ask if they could
bring you a case of beer and some chips
4. After the telemarketer gives their spiel, ask him/her to marry you. When
they get all flustered, tell them that you could not just give your credit
card number to a complete stranger.
3. Tell the telemarketer you are busy at the moment and ask them if they will
give you their HOME phone number so you can call them back. When the
telemarketer explains that they cannot give out their HOME number, you say "I
guess you don't want anyone bothering you at home, right?" The telemarketer
will agree and you say, "Now you know how I feel!" Say good by - and Hang up.
2. Insist that the caller is really your buddy Leon, playing a joke. "Come on
Leon, cut it out! Seriously, Leon, how's your mom?"
And first and foremost:
1. Tell them to talk VERY SLOWLY, because you want to write EVERY WORD down.
broke my fall (0)
Just.. nothing new, not much to say, hearts get broken everyday (like mine did.. and where were you when I barnicles fish paste needed you?)
Okay kidding. Haha. Please laugh. Just trying to add some drama to this sexy mama.
For the past weeks of my holiday (still got more than a month to go, freaky darlings) I pretty much sit around, do what I have to, what I don't have to and tear my hair out. I'm aiming for a Homer Simpson look. Not that anyone could admire it.. All in the name of personal satisfaction. We all do it. For the sake of satisfaction, some sing in the bathroom, or buy Spongebob stickers, while some irritate her sister by digging her nose. ^-^
I've also visited the Night Safari (Look at the tigers! Sleeping.. Eh the lions!! Oh sleeping.. Oooooh foxes!! Errr yes, sleeping..), Arts Civilisation Museum (a must go for all Temasek Poly students - free admission minahs and mat!), the Esplanade.. Some pictures have been uploaded, others coming to stores near you soon.
In the past 7 days, I've eaten Chicken Rice three times (you know what they say about too much heaven?), went to the florist four times (something I will never complain about) and cooked twice *chuckles*. Yes ladies, gentlemen and not-so-gentle men, I have begun to cook. Hooray to me. I'm officially a lady now. 0_O
Oh yeah, I wanted to say out load the unavoided irony of buying wallets. When you don't spend as much because it's the holidays and all, you find yourself with an excess amount of money. And when that happens, you find the need to buy a wallet (that, and the fact that your current pink wallet *subconsciously* begs you for retirement)..
and all of the sudden *gasp* you find yourself in front of the wallet stall at a pasar malam. You weren't reeeeally aiming to buy a new wallet. You happen to see this adorable black one, with the booty of a cat in the front.
A cat with an attitude, dude. It practically screams your personality. You just had to buy it..
and all of the sudden *gasp* you realise that in order to keep your money, you have to give them away to the auntie for the adorable, cat-attituded wallet. But you gain personal satisfaction of course.
Wokay. Mom's calling. Off to be the lady that I am and cook. Laters, freaky darlings!!

Now, before you scream and protest how crooked and sinister I am for playing against a 6-year-old, let me (embarrassingly) confess that my sister is a worthy opponent. Yes, there is a possibility that I have become dumber than I already am (school closed for the holidays six days ago), but I'd like to think that my sister is a genius.
We played Bingo first. I won the first, second, third games. No biggie. Before, I'd always win over her. The idea of losing never crossed my mind. The turnpoint came when we drew the fourth game for the night, and when I looked at her board, her numbers were all neatly chosen.
Bingo is not only a game of luck (this Bingo being the one you call out the number you want, not the one were you roll the numbers around). I've always believed there is a certain strategy to playing and winning Bingo. Nevertheless, we drew the fourth game and I frowned.
The fifth game she won. My jaw actually dropped. I had BING on my scoresheet, and when I checked hers, she didn't only have BINGO, she had BINGOGO. *scratches head* How did that happen?
So okay, moving on, we switched to Tic Tac Toe. "Concentrate, okay Mona? Always look at where I put my colour okay? Always check if I can win," I reminded her. There's no way my crazy 6-year-old is going to beat 19-year-old me at a simple silly game of Tic Tac Toe right?
WRONG.
We played nine games. We drew 5. She won 3, and I won once. I AM PATHETIC!!
I was shocked, but kept it hidden. Mona was doing her Victory Dance. Jiggle jiggle to the left, jiggle jiggle to the right. "I win, I win, oh yeah, oh yeah," she goes. I grinned at her; I mean, it's hard not to be proud of her.
So we tried to come up with a New Game; HangMan. I explained her the rules of the game and how to play it.
Han: Okay ready? Guess a letter.
Mona: Kalau salah orang tu mati?
Han: Yes. Choose a letter.
Mona: Kesiannye..
Han: Yes I know, haha. Okay choose a letter.
Mona: Kalau adek hero, alamak, adek save dia!
Han: No Mona, you cannot save him. Choose a letter!!
Mona: Okay, "a"... Kesian dia..

I was happily producing some eye-ooze (because it's the most important thing to produce in the morning) when, at 730 in the crazy morning, Azimah rang: "Eh. Kau pergi mentoring session tak?"
Oh. No. Shhhhhhhoot. "Alamak, got mentoring session ah? I forgot to check school email ah."
But being the dang lucky girl that I am, Aba sent me to East View Primary School by 9am. The first thing that immediately caught my attention was this mural on the wall; it went wham-bam in my face. (I'm uploading the photos soon, by Thursday insyaAllah, at my Multiply web. Look out for it.)
I was there for a bit more than an hour - all I did was shoot people and some flowers. When I got there, a student came up to me and ask, "Eh you just came ah? You mentor also?"
They were that outspoken and friendly. So I said, "Yup, my name is Han."
"Oh hi. My name is Nurul." I took a picture of her. Look for her. (I secretly hope she would be one of my mentees.)
Because there wasn't much to do - since this was EVPS's first mentoring session, all they did was break the ice and play games - I accompanied Azimah to the 2nd school in my experience as a Mentor at White Sands Primary School. (1st was Griffiths, East View is the 3rd).
I had my best memories as a Mentor there, and there was where my favourite Mentee was from too (to name one favourite, Sufiah). There were only four familiar faces there now, and it felt so different without the rest of them; I felt almost dissapointed that I went.
Later that night, I messaged four of them, saying how I miss them and all. They replied, and Sufiah even called me up. She is that sweet; I adore her.
From White Sands I made my home, and met Lili who was back from school, in the bus. She managed to convince me to drop by West Plaza (ten minutes away from home). I have been wanting to try at making pancakes for a while. So we got pancake mix, ribena for me and 7up ice for her.
So we were walking and walking when I saw.. A FLOWER SHOP. My heart actually beat faster, can you believe it? "Do you take Nets? Noooo? Oh ok.." Arghhh. I didn't have any cash with me. So we went back all the way, and waited for almost 15 minutes in line to withdraw money (Lili: Sabar, Kak, Sabaaaaaaaar).
When it was finally in my hands, I was like *grinning big big big*. Ended up buying spongebob stickers for the kids, my beautiful beautiful flowers (carnation, daisies and gerberas) and two batik wrapping papers (because they were nice).
But the flowers. Man. They pretty much made the rest of my day.
At night went to rumah nyayi, me and the kids played 20-Questions. You have to guess an item that the person is thinking of by asking questions.
Dee: Ok *thinks in head*
Me: Einstein? Gasing? Maz?
Dee: NOoooo. (sometime later:) Barbie!
Dee: Ok *thinks in head*
Me: Einstein? Gasing? Maz?
Dee: No lah! (sometime later:) Misai!
Dee: Ok *thinks in head*
Me: Einstein? Gasing? Maz?
Dee: -_-"
Sunday: Spring Cleaning (or winter cleaning, if you're in Australia)
My room changes colour and look at least four times a year. By now, I'm too tired to tell all. Let's just say it took me and Lili a good four hours to mess it and clean it all up. I don't know about Lili, but I had fun.
Especially since my beautiful beautiful flowers look extra beautiful on my now-cleared desk. ^_^
Pictures will also be uploaded soon.
Bye for now! (Drop me a thought.)

Here's the lyrics for Track 11:
Dunia ini penuh dengan kepalsuan
Apakah tiada keikhlasan?
Aku sebagai kembara jalanan
Yang tiada pedoman
Terumbang-ambi
Di lautan dosa
Aku dalam gelap gelita
Dahagakan keimanan
Mencari sinar harapan
Untuk kembali ke pangkal jalan
Siapa menduga suratan dariNya?
Tidak ku endah cemuhan yang melanda
Ku tempuhi dengan ketabahan hati
Siapa menduga suratan dariNya?
Tidak ku endah cemuhan yang melanda
Ku tempuhi dengan ketabahan hati
Ku yakin masih berkesempatan
Untuk ku kembali
Hanya padaMu Tuhan
Ku pohon segalanya

as a matter of fact, i do. in arab, it means the loved one, in malay: kesayangan, in hebrew: grace. but what people dont know is, what hannah reeeeeally means is the psychotic babe who loves soul hunting, flowers, taking photos and patrick star. *grins*>
do you have any pet names? What are they?
hannah baby (uncle. dont ask), hannoneh kepakokeh taik untateh (friend. dont ask), comel (just.. dont ask), minah (quite obvious), tongek (okay. just joking. who dares call me tongek anyway? only tongeks.)
how much money is in your wallet now?
a couple of bucks. and because im such an impulsive buyer (just bought a pair of shoes " buy han. just buy. dont even think about it. regret later. buy now now now") i hide some money around my room. (this part was edited because Lili and Dee might be reading this, thus, my money won't be safe) jeng jeng jeng!!
do you scold in vulgarties?
you know, it's really not something im proud of. truth be told, i have this tendency (during my secondary school years, especially) to mess around with my language. i dont do it nowdays - or at least i try not to. unless im reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally mad. i'd just say it in my head, to get the heat off. like i said, something im not proud of. toilet-scrubbing is a much better way to burn your angst.
do you go clubbin?
like, yeah all the time, dude. im just the type. don't i just look the type? and i dont mean it in a disgracing way, okay? im not being sarcastic here.
do you have any bad habits?
what kinda person are you?
ahhhh perceptions is a deadly thing. the persons who initially thought i'm the nice nice type - would be surprised to find out i always keep a knife behind my back in handy. and the persons who thought i'm a bitchy obnoxious freak with a long face - would be shocked to find out im really not bad. and those who think im just a nice, fun, thoughtful, loving lady - they're usually right.
do you think youre hot/sexy..etc?
i dont think it. i know it. don't puke please.
what is the most hardest thing to say to a person?
the hardest thing to say to a person is how idiotic/pathetic/rude they are. it's not nice and difficult to tell people the truth, but *in simon cow's hunky voice* someone's got to tell them the truth.
do you sleep alone or with your siblings?
my sibling. who, unfortunatel, has a habit of waking up between 12pm-1am, sometimes laughing, sometimes pointing to the well, sometimes shouting at me, but most of them time just talking. to whom, i dare not think about. freaky deaky.
define yourself in one word?
cannot!

Tuesday: Communication Skills II Summative Test
Wednesday: Corporate Communication Presentation (which went whack)
Thursday: Sociology Presentation

So yeah my schedule was full. It was nasty.
Today, I spent 6 hours working on my HR Exam notes. I actually enjoyed it; all 42 pages. My exams are coming next week.
Wish me luck.
ps/ notice I almost lack emotion. Truth is, my back is screaming its spine off; it kinds of takes up the complaining space in my head.
You have no idea what I'm talking about, do you?
Forget it. Just wish me luck, enough already. Toodles.

I was in the bus on the ride home at 2.50 when Dee messaged: "Dis is an SOS. Pls come home quickly! Wat time is ur class ending? We need u to show how joget zapin!" I was nodding my head off (and whacking it against the window) 'cause I was sleepy..
Got back at 3.20pm. Decided that zapin was too much of a chore and decided to do Dikir Barat instead. The kids were presenting it tomorrow, as a showcase of Malay's traditional dances.. Is DB considered a Malay dance? Hmmm..
Anyway, the kids - okay, I should stop calling them kids - the girls were fun. They caught the rhythm quite fast (although I did have a good time giggling at them), especially went Mus went for a girlish "Hey!" instead of the aggressive "Hei!". Hahah. Guess some things never quite change. *chuckles* And girls being girls, my God, were they bitchy. Not that I'm not bitchy anymore. Me and my minahs got our share of bitchiness.
^-^
My doing the DB brought back some memories. I did zapin once in class - truth be told, I forgot how it was like. Kaku sey tadi! And the DB too. My class presented it during Teacher's Day on our last year at Maarif.. That brought back lotsa memories - both good and bad - but mostly good.
Those were the days. Don't let them pass you by.

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
